Beyond the devastating loss of life unleashed by COVID-19, the mental health toll on so many of us has been severe. Isolation, job loss, relentless work from home, school closures… and for those on the frontlines or in vulnerable situations, the list is far longer. The medical community has already seen an increase in depression, anxiety, addiction and many other forms of distress. The demand for behavioral health resources, which were lacking before the pandemic struck, will only grow. Our discussion will focus on whether virtual behavioral health can fill the gap, the tradeoffs between in-person and online care, insurance coverage and access, and related issues.
